Samantha Fox reduced to tears by cancer scare

is set to undergo surgery after discovering a lump in her throat.

The 56-year-old singer has confirmed she will have surgery later this month to remove a ten-millimetre growth between her vocal cords.

Sam – who turned to medical experts after experiencing problems with her singing voice – told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “When I saw the growth on the screen, I thought: ‘Oh God, that’s not normal’.

“It looked very big. You think about throat cancer straight away. The doctor said, ‘We have to get that out as soon as possible. It might be nothing, but it might not be.'”

Sam was reduced to tears amid her cancer fears.

And the singer – who is set to marry Linda Olsen in the coming days – admitted to falling into a state of “shock”.

She said: “I was in shock. My fiancee Linda was with me, and broke down in tears. I’ve cried a lot.”

The pop star also empathised with her fiancee, as her mum Carole Ann also suffered from cancer.

She explained: “When she broke down in tears, I knew how she was feeling, I’ve been there.”

Sam acknowledges that the operation isn’t straightforward, and she prays that everything will work out well in the end.

The pop singer – who first found fame as a glamour model – shared: “The doctor said the growth is in a precarious position, so even if it turns out to be a benign polyps, scarring is very much a possibility.

“I still do lots of performances to soldiers on tour as a British Royal Forces sweetheart, which I love, and would hate to have to give up.

“I just pray everything will be OK.”
