New Plot Details for the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ Sequel Will Make Your Head Spin

The adventures of Newt Scamander and his gang are far, far from over. On Monday, Warner Bros. finally released major plot details for the anticipated sequel  and Where to Find Them — and, Merlin’s beard, are they a lot to take in.

The short version: Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and young Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) will team up to fight Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

Now, here’s where all the details start to get kind of crazy. Ready?

According to Warner Bros., the untitled film will pick up months after the events of Fantastic Beasts with Grindelwald having escaped to gather “more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander. The adventure reunites Newt with Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.”

If that wasn’t enough to get you in the magical state of mind, there’s more. With regards to casting, Ezra Miller is set to return as Credence, “whose fate was unknown at the end of the first film.” Zoë Kravitz, who appeared in a photo in Fantastic Beasts, will portray Leta Lestrange. New cast members include Green Room‘s Callum Turner as Newt Scamander’s war hero brother, Theseus Scamander, and The Avengers: Age of Ultron star Claudia Kim as an unnamed woman and “featured attraction at a wizarding circus.”

Finally, the sequel will take place in London and Paris. Oh, and “there are also some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of the books and film series.”

In other words, this film is going to be a smorgasbord of magic, spells, old wizards, and new wizards. Wizarding World timelines and histories will collide, expand, and break your brain. Now, let’s all hope that the Niffler can somehow find a part in all this magical madness.

The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to hit theaters Nov. 16, 2018. What do you think of the plot details and casting news? Sound off in the comments below!
