Trailer Park Boys star John Dunsworth has passed away at the age of 71.

Dunsworth’s death was announced by his daughter and co-star, Sarah Dunsworth, via Twitter on Monday, Oct. 16:

“With heavy and broken hearts the family of John F. Dunsworth would like to let people know that our amazing husband, father and grandfather John Dunsworth has passed away,” Sarah wrote.

“John left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness.”

Dunsworth played Jim Lahey on the Showcase comedy, which has run from 2001 to present.

The show had a seven-year hiatus from 2007 to 2014, when Netflix picked it up for its eighth season.

He is also known for Syfy series Haven, Artiflix TV movie Sleep Murder, and Blessings.

Cast members like Lucy Decoutere, Mike Smith, Cory Bowles, and Jonathan Torrens also spoke out on the loss.

Trailer Park Boys has enjoyed a cult following since it premiered on Showcase in the early ’00s.

The low-budget Canadian mockumentary focuses on three men, Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles, as they go about their lives in a remote Nova Scotia trailer park.

Mr. Lahey, a former sheriff, served as the co-owner and security of the trailer park.

He was best known for his dedicated alcoholism, bizarre relationship with eternally shirtless employee Randy, and a passion for catching Ricky up to no good.

RIP John Dunsworth
