EXCLUSIVE: Katrina Risteska talks music, SYTYCD and romance with Lincoln Lewis

Hey Kat, How have you been enjoying life after Dance?

Life after SYTYCD has been amazing I’ve been keeping very busy but also had a nice little rest after tour .. I have just had the most amazzzzzzzzzzing holiday in QLD with my boy!

What have you been up to?

I’ve been doing lost’s of dance gigs, teaching workshops, filming a pilot and for a New Web Series coming out next Yr called RELATIVITY.. but what I’m most excited about is my Music!! I’ve just finished my album and just about to release my first single !!

Can you tell us a little about your music, tunes?

Yea, It’s very Pop RnB with a bit of an Electro feel to it. So a little bit like Britney, Rhianna, lady gaga but also a bit urban-like Janet. Most people who hear my music say I remind them of a young Janet Jackson sound…. I got really excited about that!

What Nationality are you?

I’m born in Australia but both my parents are from Macedonia. I also have a little bit of Russian blood in me aswell.

Do you write your own music?

Yea I do, it’s the best way to express myself. I actually co- wrote 4 of the tracks on my album!

What inspires your music?

I think the fact that I’m a dancer is my biggest inspiration through listening to the beats of the music and everything – but when it comes to the lyrics I would have to say personal experiences and feelings..

Who are some of your personal favourite artists?

I lovee Britney always have always will. Christina Aguilera, JoJo, Beyonce, Micheal Jackson,  NeYo, Usher, The Pussycat Dolls to name just a few…… anything that had a great beat to it, I grew up dancing to everything I listened to so yeah.

Are you open to the idea of collaborating with other singers of our choice?

Yeah I mean I’ve just done a collaboration with the amazing Adam Tyler from the US .. so yeah if our music and sound would gel then of course 🙂

Acting or Singing?

Now that’s a hard one because although they are both in the entertainment industry they’re both so different!! It is too hard for me to separate either of them…. And don’t forget “the dancing” love……….. I love my job 🙂

Plans for Christmas? Spending any time with Lincoln over NYE Christmas?

I’m so excited!! I’m spending x  Xmas and NYE with him!

What’s Lincoln like as a boyfriend?

He is Amazingggg 🙂 we get along so well and we are so alike in so many ways so I guess that just makes it even better! We are both so supportive of each other’s careers and trust of one another which I think is one of the most important things especially cause were in the same industry!

Any plans to progress your relationship with Lincoln?

Yeah I mean everything’s great so I guess we will just take one day at a time 🙂

Plans for the upcoming year:

Yeah the single looks like it will come out around February which will be followed by more singles – then by the album! I have been working on this album for the past 2 years.

Long hard work and I think it will be something very different … it doesn’t sound like anyone else’s stuff and I don’t sound like anyone so… I just hope everyone will like it… cause I am soooo excited!!!! Ohhhh I’d love to do another film!! I am also filming for a New TV show on ABC3 which will come out early in the New Year… all soooooo exciting!!
