Zac Efron broke his hand while filming his upcoming movie Townies back in April, and slowly but surely we’re getting more juicy details about the “freak accident.”
This time, the details came from his co-star, Dave Franco.
Franco, who’s James Franco’s younger brother, first joked about it, telling an Interview reporter: “I beat the sh*t out of Zac Efron.”
Then he got serious and explained: “No, no, it was a freak accident. It shouldn’t have happened, but in the heat of the moment, he smashed his hand on the ground out of frustration during the scene, and he hit it the wrong way and fractured it, but it’s totally fine now.” Apparently high-fives with cement don’t end well.
Anyway, Efron’s well on his way to recovery now and will probably rethink his relationship with the ground next time he gets mad.
As for the younger Franco, he’s happy to be making a name for himself with a few new movies in the works. He said in the interview: “I made a conscious decision to distance myself from him work-wise. As much as I love him and respect him, I needed to stand on my own two feet.
I have noticed a difference, or at least a change. People are starting to give me credibility, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I’m trying to be as smart as I can. We may look and sound similar, but our personalities couldn’t be more different.”
