FIRST LOOK: Wentworth’s Season 8 trailer is FINALLY here as air date is announced
News dropped recently that the premiere date of season 8 of Wentworth has finally been announced.
Not only that, but a teaser trailer has also been released and fans can hardly wait to see the exciting story outlined there realized in a full new season of the prison drama.
We’ll see season 8 of Wentworth: Redemption premiere on Tuesday, July 28 at 8:30 pm on Foxtel.
It will also be streamed on Foxtel Now. International audiences will be able to start viewing the season several days after that.
The teaser trailer shows season 8 picking up from where season 7 ended, where we saw a prison siege and the murder of inmates by a corrupt guard, as well as the death of a beloved inmate and the birth of new life.
In season 8, we will see the entrance of four characters seen in the series Prisoner to the compound and another character pick up the reigns as a leader. And we discover the shocking news that Joan “The Freak” Ferguson is still alive.
In the teaser trailer, we experience a fascinating tour of the apparently empty prison.
This calls to mind the reality of lockdown that viewers are now experiencing themselves. But the new season will bring back favourites such as Rita Connors (Leah Purcell), Joan “The Freak” Ferguson (Pamela Rabe), Vera Bennett (Kate Atkinson), and Jake Stewart (Bernard Curry).
The first 10 episodes of season 8 will be aired in July, while the remaining 10 will be released next year.
Filming began in late October but later stalled for a while because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new season will see actresses Jane Hall, Zoe Terakes, and Kate Box joining the Wentworth cast.
