Isla Fisher's favourite joke was removed from Borat sequel

Isla Fisher’s favourite joke in ‘ Subsequent Moviefilm’ was removed from the final edit.

The 44-year-old actress loves watching the cuts of Sacha Baron Cohen’s projects, but she was devastated to discover that her husband removed her favourite joke from the comedy film.

Appearing on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, she explained: “I like to be involved. I watch all the cuts of his movies. I mean, I’m sure my husband will tell you I get a little too opinionated.

“There’s actually a joke in this latest ‘Borat’ one, in the debutante ball scene. I found it so funny, it’s my favourite joke. I was so attached to it. It was in the final cut, it was in all the cuts. And then finally when it comes to the last-minute edit, he takes it out!

“And I was like, ‘Babe, you know, you gotta put this joke back in! This is so funny, it’s my favourite joke.’ And he’s like explaining to me that for the pathos, that it’s really important that there’s not a joke in this moment and he didn’t feel the joke was that original. And I’m, like, getting more and more head up.”

Isla – who has been married to the comedy star since 2010 – actually threatened to stop speaking to Sacha, 49, after he removed the joke.

She recalled shouting: “I won’t be able to speak to you again unless you put this joke back in!”

The actress previously admitted that being married to Sacha can be “embarrassing”.

She explained: “To him, there’s no difference between the awkward gaffes he deliberately makes as a comic, and the terrible faux pas he innocently commits as my husband.

“One problem is that he doesn’t always recognise stars when they are not in character. He once told Diane Keaton at a dinner party that she should have won an Oscar for her performance in ‘The Kids Are All Right’ because he thought she was Annette Benning.”
