New TV series to be filmed in South Australia

Filming of a new mystery series, , will begin in South Australia next year with the federal government tipping in $3.6 million to help fund the project.

The six-part series follows a man who, after losing his memory, is on a quest to unlock the secrets of his identity before those who are trying to kill him catch up with him.

Filming is expected to take place predominantly in regional areas of SA but also in Adelaide.

is being developed for BBC One and streaming service Stan and will be produced by Two Brothers Pictures in association with Highview Productions.

Federal Arts Minister Paul Fletcher said the production was expected to generate more than $25 million in economic activity.

“The production will bring with it a significant level of activity, directly employing more than 270 Australian cast and crew and nearly 850 extras, injecting millions into the South Australian economy,” he said.

Premier, Steven Marshall said the 17-week shoot would be the biggest television production in South Australia and would create an estimated 120 local jobs.

“Securing The Tourist is a real coup for South Australia,” he said.

“Not only will it create hundreds of local jobs, it will put South Australia’s remarkable landscape on show right around the world.

Producer Lisa Scott said the landscape of the Flinders Ranges, would be an essential part of The Tourist.
