Jenny Slate gave birth to her daughter “four days” after announcing her pregnancy.
The 38-year-old actress confirmed during an interview on Wednesday (03.02.21) that she and her fiancé Ben Shattuck have officially become first-time parents, after she gave birth to a baby girl named Ida Lupine back in December.
Jenny told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Motherhood is the most meaningful thing that has ever happened to me. I feel really lucky. Being a mother is such a joy.”
Although the ‘Big Mouth’ star didn’t give an exact birth date for Ida, she did tell the publication she “did one of those things” where she announced her pregnancy just four days from her due date, which would suggest Ida arrived just before Christmas.
Jenny revealed she was expecting a baby during an appearance on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ on December 10.
She said at the time: “Let me tell you, on night one of the lockdown, we had a really romantic night of being together, real sweet with my fiancé.
“And then I did what everyone else did. I kind of hunkered down and baked a lot of bread. But I just want to say I think I might have baked too much bread or eaten too much bread. You tell me, Seth.”
At that point, Jenny stood up and showed off her growing baby bump.
The actress – who played the role of Mona-Lisa Saperstein in ‘Parks and Recreation’ – quipped: “It’s different. I feel different. Um, how have the exact last nine months been? They’ve been real pregnant for me.”
Jenny and Ben got engaged in September 2019.
The star took to Instagram at the time to announce the happy news.
She wrote on the photo-sharing platform: “He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and i screamed YES. I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going [love-heart emojis] ()”
