Harry Styles: The One Direction members don’t pit themselves against one another

Harry Styles insists the members of One Direction don’t pit themselves against one another.

The ‘Watermelon Sugar’ hitmaker found fame as a member of One Direction when they were formed on ‘The X Factor’ in 2010, and embarked on a solo career after the group went on an indefinite hiatus in late 2015.

And after each of the band’s members – including Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and former member Zayn Malik – all released their own music, Harry has insisted there’s never been a rivalry between them, even though some outsiders “want to pit people against each other”.

Speaking to Variety magazine, he said: “When you look at the history of people coming out of bands and starting solo careers, they feel this need to apologise for being in the band. ‘Don’t worry, everyone, that wasn’t me! Now I get to do what I really want to do.’ But we loved being in the band.”

“I think there’s a wont to pit people against each other. And I think it’s never been about that for us. It’s about a next step in evolution. The fact that we’ve all achieved different things outside of the band says a lot about how hard we worked in it.”

Harry’s comments come after he recently opened up about his time with the ‘History’ singers in a separate interview, where he also insisted he “loved” being part of the band.

The 26-year-old singer said: “I think the typical thing is to come out of a band like that and almost feel like you have to apologise for being in it. But I loved my time in it. It was all new to me, and I was trying to learn as much as I could.

“I wanted to soak it in. … I think that’s probably why I like traveling now – soaking stuff up.”

When the ‘Golden’ singer went solo, he spent a lot of time “finding out what [his] sound was”, but found the process “really joyous and really free” after spending five years in One Direction.

He added: “I was very much finding out what my sound was as a solo artist. I can see all the places where it almost felt like I was bowling with the bumpers up. I think with the second album I let go of the fear of getting it wrong and … it was really joyous and really free.”

Meadow Walker has paid tribute to her “best bud” father Paul Walker seven years after his death.

The ‘Fast and Furious’ star passed away on November 30, 2013, at the age of 40 as a passenger in a single-car crash alongside friend and driver Roger Rodas.

And the late actor’s 22-year-old daughter – whom he had with Rebecca Soteros – posted a throwback snap of her fast asleep on Paul’s lap when she was a child as she remembered her dad on Monday.

Meadow captioned the Instagram post: “a silly day to remember in sadness.

“today’s a celebration of the love and happiness you brought to the world. here’s a photo of my best bud & I napping.”

In September, Meadow marked what would have been Paul’s 47th birthday by sharing another picture of the pair.

She wrote at the time: “the moment I realized we are twins. happy birthday to the most beautiful soul.”

Earlier this year, Meadow posted a never-before-seen video of the late actor, which showed her surprising her father on his birthday.

In the video, Paul can be seen opening a door which Meadow was standing behind, which prompts her to shock him by shouting “Hi!”.

The action star then stumbles backwards and begins laughing, before he says: “What the hell! You just scared the hell out of me!”

Paul then pulls his daughter in for a hug, whilst she wishes him a happy birthday.

The touching post was accompanied by a caption which read: “I never thought I’d share this. But it felt right. Be good. I love you. Stay safe. xx”

And, in March, Meadow seemingly referred to the current coronavirus pandemic as she posted a picture of herself as a baby being held by her father, and called him her “ultimate apocalypse buddy”.

Justin Bieber has revealed his wife Hailey Bieber doesn’t want him to get any more neck tattoos, and why they are waiting to have kids.

Appearing on The Ellen Degeneres show, Justin revealed that he is saving space on his back to get tattoos for his kids, once he becomes a father.

“I’m going to have as many [kids] as Hailey is wishing to push out,” Justin said. “I’d love to have myself a little tribe. But, it’s her body and whatever she wants to do… I think she wants to have a few. At least two or three.”

Justin says that he and Hailey are waiting to have kids until she achieves some goals in her career.

“I think Hailey still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman and I think she is just not ready yet. And I think that’s okay,” he said.
